Wrestler Dressed to Thrill

By Glenn Cole of The Toronto Sun

He puts on women's clothing.

What we don't know, or really want to know, is whether Goldust hangs around in bars.

Much of the talk after Wrestlemania XII wasn't about the fact that Shawn Michaels was the new champion or that The Undertaker had dispatched Diesel.

No, wrestling fans and non-wrestling fans alike, were abuzz about the bizarre Rowdy Roddy Piper-Goldust affair.

There was cartoon-like violence in the first portion of the match up with lots of clanging and banging and Piper apparently getting knocked down by Goldust's car.

Piper then took off after Goldust, apparently in a white Bronco. And wasn't it cute the way the WWF inserted highlights of the O.J. Simpson-Bronco dash to illustrate Piper's, ah, pursuit.

The bottom line is that both Goldust and Piper showed up at the Pond in Anaheim and that Piper stripped Goldust of his clothing, to find him clad in women's undergarments.

Just wondering though. The WWF purports to be family entertainment.

Somehow Goldust doesn't seem to fit with that concept - even if it is the 1990s.

YOUR MONEY'S WORTH: You pay your money, you takes your chances. The consensus is the WWF card, while nothing spectacular, was still a better buy than WCW's feeble Uncensored effort a week a earlier. The best match that night was Eddy Guerrero against Konnan for the U.S. heavyweight title. The rest of it was boring with the finale cage match involving Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Savage against their arch-enemies - both boring and confusing. By the way, have you noticed that the Hulkster is starting to resemble the Huckster more and more each time out?

MOVING AROUND: Most of the WWF top stars are touring Germany and England for the next two weeks ... The Undertaker hurt his shoulder is his match against Diesel last Sunday ... Diesel will battle Shawn Michaels in the next In Your House Event later this month while the Undertaker will take on the unpredictable Mankind ... The Smokin' Gunns are back in action again and are scheduled to appear in Hamilton on a WWF card next month ... Word has it that Curt Hennig, a.k.a Mr. Perfect, could be back in the ring by the summer ... Jumped the gun a couple of weeks back on the Road Warriors as WCW tag-team titlists. Sting and Lex Luger continue to hold on to the belts, but haven't been defending them since Luger won the TV title over Johnny B. Badd, who is using his real name, Marc Mero, in the WWF. Luger lost his bid for the WCW heavyweight title against Ric Flair last Monday on WCW Nitro because of outside interference. Imagine that.
