Stu Hart passes away

By Wade Keller

Stu Hart, the father of longtime WWE wrestlers Bret Hart and the late Owen Hart, died this afternoon at the age of 88. He had been hospitalized for complications from an elbow infection and complications from diabetes and pneumonia.

Hart promoted wrestling in Canada based out of Calgary for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife Helen Hart and many sons and daughters, all of whom were either pro wrestlers or married to pro wrestlers.

Stu Hart may be best remembered by American wrestling fans as being made fun of by Jerry Lawler during his early '90s feud with Bret Hart.

"Stu Hart's Dungeon," featured in the "Wrestling With Shadows" documentary, has become part of pro wrestling's lexicon, as it was the basement of the Hart family home where Stu tested the grit of wanna be wrestlers in training by "stretching" then until they cried or passed out.
