CHRISTMAS 2003 Issue # 13

In This Issue

Merry Christmas to all from Ted and the staff here at In His Grip. It has been a busy season for Ted, traveling to Japan and doing PWA events. However, he was able to make time to do a belated Christmas message - it leads off our issue.

We thought it would be fun to contact some different wrestlers and a gladiator and ask them their Christmas wishes. The hitch though, is that we asked them for the wish in their gimmick character and as themselves. Some of their gimmick answers are true to form, but their shoot answers were often very similar - you will find them in Page 3.

On Page 4 you will find a special Christmas message from Bobby Reidell. He also has some big news to share about the PWA - don't miss his column

Finally, we thought it only fitting to include in this issue the story of the birth of Christ. Unfortunately, in this country, to be politically correct, we can't mention Christ - even at Christmas. The name Jesus Christ has become offensive to almost the entire world. What those who are offended fail to realize, is they are fulfillling a prophecy spoken about them by the very person who's name offends them.

"Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another."

-Matthew 24:10

Merry Christmas, Enjoy.

A MESSAGE FROM TED

Merry Christmas!

It's late I know , as it is now December 26th, but I wanted to wish each and every one of you a very merry and blessed Christmas as well as a happy and prosperous new year.

This time of year is a time obviously that we all think of and try to be with our families. It's a time to reflect on the memories of the past and look forward to the future. It is definitely a time when we should try to focus on the real meaning of Christmas, Jesus Christ. It's an old saying of course, "remember the reason for the season", but, in fact, that is precisely what we must do. I've noticed more each year that the media and the world at large fail to even mention the word Christmas. It's always happy holidays and happy new year. You will hardly hear a newscaster say merry Christmas. For that very reason we, as Christians, need to make sure the world doesn't forget what this season is all about.

As I reflect on the year I have much happiness as well as much sadness. I have much to be thankful for as God has given me much opportunity in ministry. Many doors opened and continue to open. We are seeing thousands come to Christ by way of the PWA wrestling crusades (two thousand in one night at Detroit World Outreach) and look forward to taking the crusade overseas this year to Great Britain. On a sad note, I lost a great friend this year when we lost Mike Hegstrand (Hawk). I'm sad because I've lost his companionship but happy and comforted because I know where my friend is now.

I've also been sad because I've risen everyday knowing that I have a son sitting in prison. Spending Christmas with my family and not having him with us and knowing that he is all alone and without his family on Christmas was very painful. hope being alone on Christmas and without family will help make him realize he never wants to repeat the mistakes of the past. I'll be leaving this evening to go and visit him tomorrow.

I It will be the first time in a year that I've been able to hug my son. You can't imagine how important something as simple as a hug can become, until you're put in a situation like this. With that in mind I want to encourage all of you to pause this Christmas and truly reflect on the blessings of your life. Even if your situation seems to be a bad one, it could always be worse.

Yes, I'm sad because my son is in prison, but then I think of all the parents who's sons are fighting for and protecting our freedoms. I know that their sadness is accompanied with fear for the safety of their loved ones. You see, I don't have it so bad after all. It can always be worse. The bible tells us that in all situations to be joyful. When we walk in true faith we know who is in control of all situations. We walk by faith, not by sight. When I was suffering the most about my sons imprisonment and crying out to God, in my heart I heard Him say to me, "do you trust me with him or not?". It's that simple. I said yes Lord I trust you. I have had a peace ever since then.

So stop today and thank Jesus for loving us enough to come to this world, that He created, to show us the way. Remember that He came not as king, but as a poor man, as a servant to others, showing us how we should live. Thank Him today for loving you enough to die for you. Remember today that true joy is not in getting gifts, but giving them and that the greatest gift you can give anyone is often giving of yourself in service to them. Jesus gave His life for all of us, so that we might live.

I know that the greatest gift I can give my son Michael this Christmas is a hug from his dad. He's told me that's all he wants. I know the greatest gift I will get this Christmas is the hug I get in return. So stop today and be thankful for all the little blessings in life, the ones we sometimes take for granted and have a holy Christmas season. Until next time and until He comes again I am,

We thought it would be fun to asked our favorite people what their Christmas wish would be. From most, we received 2 answers - one from them, and one from their "altar-ego"[sic]. Below are the answers we received from those we could reach. So enjoy as In His Grip presents:

"My Christmas Wish Is..."

The Million Dollar Man: "Bah Humbug! You get no where in life by giving! Only the strong survive! It's take what you can get. But to show I do have some heart, here's a little advice: ‘Save your money!'".

Ted DiBiase: "That everyone would truly slow down and reflect on what Christmas is really all about, Not just that old cliché: The Reason for the Season, but think about why Christ truly came for us. In reality, we are the reason for the season. We should go out of our way to give even more of ourselves, to give genuine love. Jesus said, "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?." -Mark 8:36

Jim Myers : "I pray that Vince McMahon Jr. will attend the next Athletes International Annual Athletes Conference and Awards Banquet that will be held at the Raddisson Resort in Scottsdale Az. I pray that Vince will find The Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour at the conference. I do not believe that Vince is responsible for other peoples poor choices. I do believe that Vince McMahon will make a major difference in many lives. Now, pray for Vince."

The Russian Nightmare: "Cha-tu-a-tah!! Santa Claus, or St. Nicholas, or whatever you're calling yourself now - if I don't get my Christmas wish on Christmas eve, you're going down for the 1-2-3! Cha-tu-a-tah!!"

Nikita Koloff: "It's my Christmas wish that all might come to the saving grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ so that we might see His triumphant return - and see it soon."

Russian Bear: "To Wait on santa to come down the chimney and grab him and steal his bag of toys!"

Ivan Koloff: "I would like to see wrestling cleaned up. And to see the WWE take on a role like the PWA or see an organization like the PWA get picked up and televised weelky[sic]."

Dr. Death: "See the business take a 3600 [sic] turn - all the way around to what it used to be."

Steve Williams: "I would like to see more of ‘the boys' in the business turn to Christ in the year 2004."

HBK: "I came back to wrestling for match - and now all I wish for is a day OFF!"

Shawn Michaels: "To finally have all of our home improvements done so we can get rid of all the people who have been hanging around the past 2 years!"

Tully Blanchard: "My wish is to keep serving the Lord."

The Ragin' Cajun: "My Christmas wish is for the world to have no more Global Warming. No more "greenhouse gases" or vehicle exhaust. From now on, everyone will have to travel by a light beam -- like in Star Trek. By the way, get the scientists working on the light beam technology immediately!
Incidentally, my wish is also that we ban "Reality TV," which gets my blood pressure boiling so much that it contributes greatly to Global Warming." Lash LeRoux: "My Christmas wish is for everyone to pray that the Holy Spirit continue to guide our President Of The United States. I think it is quite evident that our Commander In Chief is a man of great conviction, who is trying to lead our country back to a strong moral foundation. I therefore think it is more important than ever that we pray for God to give the President the strength to continue to follow the convictions of his heart, rather than act based on polls or popular political opinions."

American Gladiator Malibu: Big waves, a sunny day and bikinis."

Deron McBee: "That God would endow me with the boldness and power of speech, and the means to draw people, to evangelize the whole United States."

Buff The Stuff: "Wrestling be like it used to be when the WWF was in competition with WCW because it was fun for the fans and the talent. In or out of the ring, my wish is the same - whether I be a part of it or not. And maybe the answer to this wish, is the wish that Marcus made."

Marcus Bagwell: "To see there continue to be Godly movement within the wrestling world because it needs Him more than any other ‘thing or place' in the world - including Hollywood and other sports because of the deaths of so many."

"The King": "I don't really need anything for Christmas - I take what I want, when I want it."

Harley Race: "Continued good health for me and my family."

BOBBY'S CORNER

Merry Christmas everyone! Is it me or did this CHRISTmas season come "suddenly"?? Like, here it is, Dec. 23rd, and I am still decorating my house, in need of shopping, and trying to get into the "CHRISTMAS SPIRIT"...Now don't get me wrong...I love Christmas, but this year it seems like Christmas responsibilities, tag teamed with all the other things I do, have controlled me, instead of me controlling it!!! This is not good. However, in the midst of all the insanity, I am still keeping the meaning of the season in focus...that of Jesus Christ. Please make time to Worship the King and give HIM a gift this year...perhaps it's your heart, time, finances, and or hospitality to the less fortunate. Remember, "Whatever you do to the least of these, you do unto ME". I wanted to talk to you about Holiday Memories of some of your favorite stars, BUT time just got away from me. I do apologize. However, I did talk to George Steele today - his Christmas wish is listed in Page 2. Please visit his website and go to his message boards. He wants the Christian community to support him and get involved. His website is: George "The Animal" Steele. Be sure to tell him I sent you. In case your new to this website and newsletter, you should check out some of the other sites of your favorite Christian wrestlers:
Nikita Koloff The Russian Nightmare's Official Web Site
The LeRoux Bayou:
Official Lash LeRoux Website
Nativetatanka.com
The Official Site of Johnny Ova

Other memories of Christmas that I recall from other stars was that of Freddie Blassie. Every year he would go down to the airport convention center and dress up as Santa to give gifts to the children. He was always a special man. Tito Santana is spending time at home with family, and is a school teacher in NJ. His wife also runs a hair salon. He loves what he is doing and still works on occassion. Did you know he went to college with Ted? Ricky Steamboat's son (the little guy he held up at WrestleMania 3) is now racing cars. Luna and Gangrel are wonderful people and we need to pray for them. A lot of rumors about who is going to be at WrestleMania this year...a lot of names being tossed around, but a lot of what your hearing is RUMOR!!!! The Insane Clown Posse and Zac Gowen were at the PWA event in Detroit. WWOR, ABC, and NBC all covered it.

We all have New Year Resolutions....Tim Quinn said it best, Reformations should be more like it. Let Jesus change and mold your heart and mind. Pray, "Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me". Of course I still have goals such as losing more weight...lol...I'm only 175, but I try to get better. I also want to have a more "set time" to spend with God.I tend to make that time before I go to bed because I am in NO WAY a morning person, but I like the idea of having a small devotional book at work, or with me on the road outside of my Bible. We can complain and analyze all we want, but until we put all our schedules aside, and open the scripture, and talk to God...we will never have that peace. Please make this year a banner year for your spiritual lives.

As far as ministry stuff goes...I am working on getting a tract made of Ted's career, as well as, the other Christian workers. Ted is also in the new WWE Smackdown video game put out by IGN. I hooked him up with an interview found here:

Sports: Ted DiBiase: Million Dollar Smackdown

Offers for PWA events are coming in from the United Kingdom, Whales, Austrailia, and Asia. A trip to Alaska is in the works for April, and the testimony's and emails that are coming in from fans regarding how their lives have been changing due to this ministry is very encouraging. Thanks to all who have been praying. Continue to pray for all those in ministry, and for Ted of course!

On a more personal note, I ask that you all pray for wisdom, strength, and guidance for me as I continue to do what I am called to do in this wrestling business. Thus far, the results have been wonderful, and ministry is going on at every secular show that Johnny and I do. Thanks.

*****The PWA Event, entitled, "The Main Event" will be available for purchase on DVD in the next few weeks. Be sure to check the website and message boards to find out more information. Also, there will be a 3 page, FULL COLOR, story on the PWA, available on newsstands in Feb/March. I wrote the article. Name of magazine has to be withheld until release. Be checking the boards. This is going to get a lot of wrestling people talking!!!!*****

In closing, I ask you to reflect on the last year and look at all the people we lost : Elizabeth, Hawk, Crush, Crash Holly, The Wall, Mr. Perfect, etc. We ALL have a job to do. Life is too short. Make a lasting impression and impact on the people you surround yourself with. Please represent the Lord correctly, and don't major on minors. God did not judge. Just try to "be all things to all men, so you can save a few". Show them grace and mercy...not judgment and condemnation.

Have a Spirit Filled New Year!
