Misc Links Page
Last updated 25 November 2003
This is a list of links to all kinds of random cool Web sites
I have found while wasting valuable time surfing.
Just be glad you didn't have to waste your own time hunting the good sites down. :-)
This page is updated constantly (every time I find a cool page) so check it out frequently!
Looking for a map? Here's a few sites I've found:
The World Traveller Books and Maps page.
The Adventurous Traveler Bookstore page.
The Maps and Travel Guidebooks page.
And my favorite, the Earth Viewer Space Maps page.
Wanna see how fast your car REALLY goes? Here's a map of the new speed limits for all 50 states.
Personally, I'm miffed that I didn't get my car out to Montana back when they have NO speed limit during the day during good driving conditions. :-)
In the Market to Buy a Car?
Car-buying web sites:
- Kelley Blue Book has been the standard for finding out what new and used cars are worth for a loooong time.
- Edmunds has a ton of info on both new and used cars.
- AutoVantage has a broker service and a discount database, but no web page.
- CarMax sells used cars via computers in their stores, but has no web page. They are owned by Circuit City (the chain of electronics stores). Chrysler started giving CarMax a franchise to sell new Chryslers, Jeep Eagles, and Plymouths in April 1996.
- Driver's Mart was formed by nine of the largest used car dealerships in the US. They have no web page.
- CarAmerica sells used cars in Madison, Wisc. They have no web page.
- Sam's Club and PriceCostco each charge an annual fee for its service, but have signed up a list of dealers who agree in advance to charge a low fixed amount over the vehicle's invoice price. They have no web page.
- Auto-By-Tel charges an annual fee for its service, but has signed up 1300 dealers who agree in advance to charge a low fixed amount over the vehicle's invoice price.
- Edmund Publications will show you how much less the dealer cost is compared to the MSRP. It also has MPG info, etc.
- Dealernet has 100 websites that they set up for various dealers.
- AutoHelp will find any make and model (as well as new factory parts) anywhere in the world. They also offer wholesale pricing quotes on new cars.
- Auto Info Center has a database for buying and selling cars (used, I assume).
- Auto Outlet runs a BBS for selling used cars.
- AutoSource has 2500 websites with everything from auto shows to used car prices.
- AutoLink contains many more links to car-related sites.
- Isuzu has their own web page.
- General Motors finally got their own web page in February 1996. The GM Visa Card gives you a discount on every GM car and truck made... except Saturns. Feel free to give them feedback telling them that they should not have this exception.
- Saturn has there own web page, where you can get pre-haggled pricing info. Beware, though. Some Saturn dealers work on commission (all seven in the Minneapolis/St Paul area do).
