Hack-Man Movie Ratings

I saw this movie twice on opening week, and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Yeah, there were a couple things in the story I might have changed, and his reasons for not hooking up with MJ at the end were really bogus (yes, I realize it was to set up stuff for the second movie) but those were minor enough that I could overlook them.

The two things that turned me off the most were the casting for Mary Jane and Peter Parker. Kirsten Dunst is just too fat in the face to be able to pull off a convincing MJ. They should have found someone who looked more like Tanya Roberts looked 30 years ago. Tobey Maguire just looked/acted waaaay too much like Rick Moranis in "Honey I shrunk the Kids". Yes, I realize Peter was supposed to be a nerd, but Tobey could have found a happy medium between the live-action TV Spider-Man and Rick Moranis.

With that out of the way, James Franco as Harry Osborn and Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin really stole the whole show. Their casting and portrayls of the Osborn men couldn't have been any more spot on.

This is turning out a lot like the Batman movies where the actors cast as the villains far out-perform the actor cast as the superhero.

Bonus points for having Randy "Macho Man Savage" Poffo cast as Bone Saw McGraw and Stan Lee as Sunglasses Vendor. I didn't even recognize Lucy Lawless as "Punk rock girl".

David Letterman ruined the web-slinging parts of the movie, since every time during the film when they had Spider-Man swinging frin a web, all I could think of was Letterman's idiotic marking out.

It had a big budget feel to it, and the box office gross shows that a lot of people liked it.

Yeah, it could have been better, but even so--it's still better than 80% of the movies out there.
