2007/06/03: WWE One Night Stand PPV

I forgot there was a PPV tonight until it was about 100 minutes into it.

I found a marginally choppy feed (looked like a hijacking of an already hijacked feed, since there was spam for 2 different websites, neither of which I was watching this on) in time to catch the last 5-7 minutes of the ECW title match. Looked okay for a garbage match.

I haven't watched my DVRing of SNME yet, and I made liberal use of the fast-forward during Smackdown, so I might be missing out on subtle "plot" points.

What's the point of having Todd Grisham interview Maria (who is an interviewer)?

I marked for Maria "snapping out of the 'dumb' mode" for a few seconds to answer Todd and analyze the upcoming pudding match.

Morella is just dragging down the Maria thing.

Good use of Ron Simmons.

Pudding match was what it was. Nice to see Maria go in afterwards. Then they did the usual "ref gets dragged in" bit.

WWE's going to wait a whole THREE weeks before the next PPV?

Smackdown title match. I was hoping the cage would help hide the fact that Edge can carry good wrestlers, but he's not good enough to carry someone as limited as Batista.

Let's see if Batista gets in all five of his "moves". Thrusting his knee into the air between his opponent's knees? Check. Shoulderblock (attempt)? Check. Random punches and kicks? Check. Shake the ropes like a retarded Hellwig? No. BatistaBum (attempt)? Check.

Tons of times where even the markiest of marks would say "why doesn't walk out the door now that is unable to move?"

The re-broadcasters along the way were getting bored, as other windows would occasionally overlap the PPV feed.

Geez. WWE is advertising *two* upcoming PPVs while broadcasting a third?

Khali vs Cena

Khali "has never been pinned" (or at least not in the last month or so).

Yeah, Cena has turned into one of the top mic workers in the current WWE, and is probably about in the middle of the pack as far as wrestling goes, but he certainly isn't capable of carrying Khali to a watchable match (who in WWE really is?). At least the match stips should hide the fact a bit.

The re-broadcasters along the way were getting bored again as the commentary couldn't be heard for most of the match since someone decided to let everyone know about their horrid taste in music.

Weirdly, the only time fans booed was when they were on the "heavy equipment" (but they popped *huge* when Cena FUed Khali off the equipment "onto the concrete".

Cena was announced as the "new" champion by the ring announcer after the match. Did Khali win the title on SNME or did the announcer screw up?

Glad I didn't waste any money on this. I didn't see anything worth bringing up on YouTube later this week.
