Yes, this is two days late. Yes, I haven't been able to post this on a weekly basis for the last month or two. You get what you pay for. :-) I haven't had a chance to read RSPW for a few weeks, so some of this may be old news (and the INFO-only list hasn't sent anything for quite a while now). I was amazed that the Flair/Inoki card in North Korea set a new attendance record by more than a factor of two. Wade sez: "With Festival tickets priced between $25 and $210, the gate obliterates the $1.6 million gate for Wrestlemania III as the Festival gate did surpass $5 million and may have surpassed $10 million depending on how many of each price range ($25, $155, and $210) were sold. An average North Korean earns an equivalent of $50 a month, so $210 tickets are the equivalent of thousands of dollars for an average U.S. wage earner." The guy that got "beamed up" at the end of last Saturday's WCW Saturday Night was WCW TV Producer Dan Bynum. April 25th was his last day with WCW. About 10 months ago I reported that Hulk Hogan was planning on opening a PastaManiia restaurant in Minnesota's Mall of America. Well, it looks like it might finally open this summer (June 15th is the scheduled opening) at the largest mall in the US. Minneapolis-based "Wrestaurants Inc" (and people think *I* make bad puns) has signed an exclusive deal to develop a national chain (the next two are planned for Baltimore and Philadelphia) of the restaurants. All Japan wasn't happy with Dory Funk Jr wrestling in the legends match (since WCW works with rival New Japan) so he will be replaced by Dick Murdoch (sigh). Schreinemarkets Live (one of Germany's top talk shows) planned to have Alex Wright as a guest, but when the show's host became ill, the deal fell through. Hulk's "Thunder In Paradise" is getting a 20 percent share of the TV viewing audience in Germany (3 million viewers) every Sunday at 16:00. This is enough for Turner to continue churning out the show. They tried showing a couple shows in prime time on a Sunday to see how it would do against more respected shows and it drew 6.23 and 4.95 million viewers. New laws in Munich and Stuttgart prohibit children under 10 from attending wrestling house shows. WCW held steroid tests last week. Brad Armstrong tested positive and was suspended. He is expected to be brought back in a day or two. WCW was worried about an ABC/SI steroid show that turned out to be ignored by all. The 7'2" Paul White that has been rumored to be joining WCW for the last few years is entering the USWA to learn how to wrestle a bit better before being brought in to WCW to job to Hogan. Regal will be out for a few weeks with nerve damage to his left arm from a match in Japan. That's all. --Otto "Hack-Man the Internet Funk-Head" Heuer
