I'll assume most people watched the first Monday Nitro on TV, so I won't go over match results or the run-ins or the unsceduled wrestlers that showed up on camera. I got to the Mall of America in Bloomington at 5:00 (even though the show didn't start until 8:00. There was NO room along ANY of the balcony/railing areas surrounding the ring on any of the three floors that overlook the ring. There was NO room (for several rows) behind the bleachers that surrounded the ring. Most of the seats in the bleachers and chairs were empty, but they weren't letting people in. I soon found out that to get a "real" seat, one had to show up at 10:00 that morning and get a wristband. Too bad they failed to mention this in their radio. TV, and newspaper ads (none of which Ii saw anyway). After about a half hour of walking around the ring area trying to figure out the best place to stand for the next four hours I met up with Doug's roommate, who let me know that Doug wouldn't be there since his girlfriend was having contractions. I found a place where I was able to slowly edge my way closer to the railing, and soon had no obstructions in my view of the ring. I spent an hour or two talking with a Japanese gal who had been standing there longer than I had. She seemed suitably impressed with my wealth of wrestling knowledge :) (especially Bobby Heenen. Bobby Heenen, Eric Bischoff, and a few others came out to see where they would be sitting. I joined in a huge "Wee-zul" chant that seemed to be coming from the other side of the ring. I decided to head for the "heel section", since that would be the area where the four stationary cameras were pointed, as well as where the wrestlers enter the ring. The dark match was the American Males vs Buck/Dick w/Col Parker. Jon and a few others had shown up by now, and we tested various chants ("implant boy", etc). As Wildcat Wiillie was wandering around beinig obnoxious, I yelled "Tanaka" and Jon yelled "Sabu". Willie shook his finger at at least on of us. :-) I had previously thought that WW was that short guy with the beard that was supposed to be in WCW's light heavy division last year. With all the people there and not an easy place to find people, I missed six of the people I was suppose to meet up with, but did manage to see five others. The highlight of my evening was at the end of the Hogan match, where I got to spit on the Pukester as he walked down the aisle. Juvenile, I know, but it gave me some satisfaction to show my "appreciation" to the man who ruined the sport of wrestling I loved. Didn't see Wade Keller there, but the shorter, fatter guy from PWI that looks like Keller was there early snapping some pictures. Also nice to see Nick Bockwinkel, Curt Hennig (who went to the locker rooms immediately after Flair's match), Eddie Sharky, and both members of the Destruction Crew there. I had to smile, sinice most of these people left after Flaiir's match before Hogan's match. I had a notion to do the same. Now I have to check my tape to see if the VERY LOUD "Hogan Sucks" or the not as loud "ECW" chants showed up on the broadcast. I saw a LOT (at least 20) signs confiscated, and another 15 or so pre-made by WCW handed out for fans to hold up. During the Liger match (and as he came out) I started a loud one-man "LIGER" chant. No one around me knew who the hell Liger was, and I got strange looks from all around me. By the end of the match, with all the high spots, at least half of my section had joined me in the "Liger" chant. Oh, I noticed they dubbed over the "Hogan sucks" chant--from the middle of the Hogan/Bubba match--for the replay later that night.
