Matagi Island Resort is a 240 acre private island. With only eleven bures including a honeymoon "Tree House Bure" 30 feet off the ground (completely private in its own bay) and a "Floating Bure" (in its own bay) Matagi is truly a romantic island. The resort is well known for its fabulous scuba diving and snorkeling. Paddling canoes, picnics, native village tours, day trips to the Taveuni waterfalls and traditional Fijian Meke (dance) evenings are all available. 7 nights including round-trip airfare from Los Angeles is $5723. A turquoise lagoon surrounds the 880-acre island, which is encircled by a coral reef. There are three guest bures on the island so you are assured maximum privacy. Each elegant bure has its own private beach and includes: a wet-bar and fully stocked refrigerator, spacious bedroom with king-sized bed, and a beautiful appointed bathroom featuring an oversized shower that also has a separate beach entrance. Fresh flowers are left in the bure daily. There are 5 staff members for every guest who will indulge your every whim. Kaimbu Island is a place of privacy, personal attention and unbelievable natural beauty where you can escape the noise and rush of city life and the stresses of modern society. Their policy is adult couples only or families if the entire island is hired. TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS Malcolm Forbes paid $1 million for Laucala in 1972. His estate is now trying to sell it for $10 million. Its valued worth is listed as $70 million. It is a 3,017-acre, palm-covered paradise in Fiji and has 200 to 250 natives living on it. He built a two-bedroom house atop a hill with a view, 7 guest bures, and put in a 1000 meter private landing strip. This large, private island is surrounded by beautiful white, sandy beaches with crystal clear waters protected by coral reefs. Because of the moderating influence of the trade winds, the island's temperature is kept comfortable the year round. It enjoys the advantage of a tropical climate without suffering extremes of heat.

FIJI CLIMATE

The average temperature ranges from 80° in July/August to 82° during our "winter" months.

The average low temperature is 77° during our "summer" months and 79° during our "winter" months.

The average high temperature gets all the way up to 86° in January, but only 83° suring our "summer" months.

The highest recorded temperature is 93° and the lowest recorded temperature is 62°.

From October through May you can expect to get almost a half inch of rain each day. From June through September only a quarter of an inch of rain generally falls each day.
